SLIK Space - World and Character Design

Some 3D design work I did for SLIK (https://slik.com.au/) last year, designing them a 3D metaverse space themed on the idea of a pinball machine. The world includes multiple spaces for users to gather, interact, and present content to others. Was certainly an interesting project to work with them to deliver a fun design featuring their branding and colours!

Player Avatars:
For the player Characters they wanted a simple design that could feature various colours or patterns of their branding as players took on these characters in the space.
The characters were rigged up with the Mixamo character rig, modified and retargeted for their cartoonish proportions. This allowed animations and emotes to be pulled right from Mixamo and stashed into the character rig to be used in their engine.

NPC Characters:
The characters were designed to look distinct from players, and so were given a robot-like look. Rigged up with a modified version of the Mixamo rig, I removed the legs in favour a hovering lower body. Then animated them each with a distinct, looping, behavioural animation for them to play through (along with a simple idle animation).

Each NPC occupies a different space in the world, giving players context and information to each area.

These NPCs are the Referee, who greets players as they enter the world.
The Bartender, mixing drinks in the Bar.
The DJ, spinning tunes in the Dancefloor.
The MC, presenting things on the main stage.
And the Usher, greeting players to the Gallery.

World, Player Avatars, and NPC Characters are all built, rigged, and animated in Blender
